LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Spalding softball hosted the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Quarterfinal against Mississippi University for Women (MUW) on Tuesday. SU won 2-1 and advanced to the Semifinal.

The scoring didn't begin until the bottom of the second.
Hayleigh Gnagie hit a triple up the middle, and
Bella Velez scored for SU. As it went two innings with no runs, it turned into a pitching duel.
Michaela Ferman held firm on the mound the whole game, tallying four strikeouts and giving up only three hits.
In the top of the fourth, the Owls snagged a run of their own, making it 1-1. In the bottom of the sixth, the Golden Eagles finally responded.
Dawn Wilson singled through the right side and tallied an RBI.
Madison Loechle ran home and gave SU the lead 2-1. Ferman's phenomenal pitching continued for the rest of the game, and SU went on to win 2-1.
