LOUISVILLE, Ky. – On Wednesday, Spalding men's basketball hosted St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) opponent Webster University. The Golden Eagles defeated the Gorloks, 67-64.
SU moved to 10-9 (9-4 SLIAC), while Webster fell to 9-11 (7-6 SLIAC) on the season.
TURNING POINT
It was a battle to begin the first half, as neither team could gain more than a six-point lead.
Emmanuel Rislin got Spalding on the board first with a driving layup. As both teams were scoring back and forth, the score reached 16-16.
Devonte McCampbell gave SU some momentum as he made an and-one layup.
Caden Bradford used this momentum to his advantage as he hit back-to-back three-pointers. The Golden Eagles closed out the half strong, winning 32-28.
SU came out with some energy in the second half. The Golden Eagles sparked a 13-0 run in the first four minutes of the half. Baskets were scored by Bradford,
Jacoby Johnson,
Kameron Jones, and Rislin. The Gorloks fought back into this game, making it 64-62 in favor of SU. With six seconds remaining, Webster had a chance to tie the game, but the three-pointer came up short. SU goes on to win this one, 67-64.
