ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Spalding men's basketball traveled to SLIAC opponent Fontbonne on Saturday. SU took home the win 76-57.
SU moved to 5-2 (3-0 SLIAC), while the Griffins fell to 3-5 (2-1 SLIAC).
TURNING POINT
It was a close one to begin this one, as the score was tied 11-11 with 13 minutes left in the first half. With six minutes remaining in the half, SU finally grabbed some momentum.
Andre Crawford knocked down a three to push the Golden Eagles ahead, 22-19.
Kameron Jones came to play again after a remarkable night against the Panthers the other day. He entered the game for Spalding and hit a three to extend the lead to four. SU ended the half with a scoring mindset.
Jacoby Johnson netted a three,
Emmanuel Rislin made a pull-up jumper, and
Anthony Dillard knocked down some free throws. The Golden Eagles took the lead into halftime, 32-25.
Right out of the gate, Jones nailed another three-pointer to put SU up double-digits. The next play, Crawford found
Devonte McCampbell, who threw down a monstrous alley-oop dunk. This shifted the way this game was being played. Dillard did what he does best, using his body to his advantage. Anthony found himself at the free throw line back-to-back plays, totaling 19 free throws in the game. SU maintained control of this game and took home the win, 76-57.
