WILMORE, Ky. – Spalding men's basketball traveled to Asbury University on Wednesday. SU grabbed the win 55-51.
The Golden Eagles moved to 2-1 on the season, while the Eagles fell to 1-4.

Caden Bradford layup and a three-pointer by
Levi Langley pushed Spalding ahead, 5-0, just two minutes into the game. Bradford continued his hot start by hitting back-to-back free throws and a three-pointer. SU extended their lead to 12-6 with 13 minutes left in the half.
Jaelen Levell got in the scoring column by scoring a midrange jumper. It was a back-and-forth battle for the next 10 minutes as the score reached 23-25 in favor of the Eagles.
Xavier Burton hit back-to-back three balls right before the half to grab SU back the lead, 31-25. With 30 seconds left,
Jacoby Johnson scored a driving layup to put SU into the half-winning, 33-27.
It was a slow start to the second half. Both Eagle squads only tallied one basket each in the first three minutes of the half.
Devonte McCampbell and Langley each tallied layups to extend Spalding's lead to six, 39-33. The defense by both teams was pressuring the other, making this a total defensive battle. With six minutes left, SU had an 11-point lead. Asbury cut the lead to four, but the Golden Eagles secured the win, 55-51.
