LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Spalding women's soccer hosted SLIAC opponent Lyon on Thursday. SU and the Fighting Scots tied 1-1.
SU moved to 6-2-2 (1-0-1 SLIAC) on the season, while the Fighting Scots moved to 2-4-2 (1-0-1 SLIAC).
TURNING POINT
The first half began with the Golden Eagles' couple of shots on target.
Karolyn Lighthall fired a shot straight at the Fighting Scots goalkeeper. SU's midfield and defense controlled the possession for the first 15 minutes of the match. Spalding kept the pressure on Lyon's defense and their goalie with 12 shots in the half. SU and Lyon went into the half with a scoreless draw, 0-0.
Forty-eight seconds into the half,
Emma Livingston hit a low ball into the bottom right of the net.
Jaelyn Dodson tallied an assist off a fantastic ball from midfield right onto the six-yard box. In the 68th minute, despite the pressure by SU, the Fighting Scots snagged a goal of their own. SU kept full control of the match, but unfortunately could not find another goal. The game ended as a draw, 1-1.
