LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Spalding women's soccer and Franklin College ended their Sunday afternoon game at Legacy Fields with a 0-0 draw.
The Golden Eagles moved to 1-1-1, while the Grizzlies moved to 1-0-3.
TURNING POINT
The first half started strong for Spalding, with three shots on goal within the first nine minutes, but none got past the Franklin keeper. The Golden Eagles maintained possession for a majority of the opening half having the ball 61%, and only allowed the Grizzlies to take three shots with one being on target.
Melaney Frick got two shots off to end the first half.
The second half was a similar story to the first with Spalding holding possession for a majority of the half, but not being able to put a shot into the back of the net. The Golden Eagles earned a penalty kick, but the
Faith Rutherford shot ball hit the crossbar and the Franklin keeper was able to collect it.
Spalding continued to test the Grizzlies defense, but in the end, the game ended with a 0-0 tie.
GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES
- Spalding had a 10-5 advantage in shots over Franklin and put six shots on target.
- Jordan Schneider had her first shut out of the season.
- Melaney Frick and Faith Rutherford took four shots each.
- The Golden Eagles held possession for 58% of the game.
