HANOVER, Ind. - Yet another double-digit hitting performance propelled Spalding baseball to a 14-2 win over Hanover College.
The Golden Eagles moved to 6-1 with the non-conference win.

Dryden Schroeder single to left field in the second was the first hit of many for Spalding in the contest.
Michael Speck was at the plate next and smacked a double to left. A
Jacob Spanyer single followed by a
Marcus Collins sacrifice fly brought home the first two Golden Eagle runs.
The score remained 2-0 until the top of the fourth. Three straight Spalding batters were walked which loaded the bases.
Ethan Tuttle came up to the plate and hit a two-RBI double that increased the SU lead.
Michael Newsom was next to the plate and hit an RBI single.Â
Three more runs came across in the fourth frame. Tuttle scored on a ground out followed by
Hunter Strong and Newsom reaching home on a Schroeder single.
The Panthers got their first run of the game up in the bottom of the fourth, but the Golden Eagles answered back with two runs in the top of the fifth. The first runner scored on a sacrifice fly while the second came across on an error by the third baseman.
Up 10-2, after Hanover scored a run in the bottom of the fifth, Spalding scored the final four runs of the contest in the top of the seventh. A
Matthew McDowell RBI double scored one of those runs while a Schroeder sac fly brought another home. The final two SU runs came across thanks to a two-RBI single from Spanyer.
GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES
- Michael Newsom had a game-leading three hits in his 3-for-5 performance.
- Dryden Schroeder and Jacob Spanyer led the Golden Eagle contingent in RBI with three each.
- For the second-straight game, three SU batters recorded doubles. Matthew McDowell. Michael Speck, and Ethan Tuttle each notched one.
- Caden Krystofiak earned the start on the mound and the win. He pitched five innings and struck out five batters. It is his first win of the season.
- Eric Wigginton and Brady Rutherford also spent time on the mound for Spalding. Each pitched one inning with neither allowing any hits or runs.
- Wednesday marked the third time this season that SU has held the opposing squad to three hits or less.
NEXT FOR SPALDING
The Golden Eagles are heading to Florida for spring break baseball. The team is set to compete in the Studer's Blue Wahoo Challenge that runs March 14-19 in Pensacola, Fla.
