LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Round two of Spalding and Greenville did not disappoint as the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) game ended 92-80 in favor of the Golden Eagles.
Spalding moved to 8-15 overall with the win and 7-6 in the SLIAC. The Panthers fell to 7-17 overall and 6-7 in league action.
With one game left in the regular season, the Golden Eagles currently hold the five seed for the SLIAC Tournament. SU sits one game back from No. 4 Eureka, who comes to town on Saturday.
TURNING POINT
Spalding started off the game with a bang. After an opening two points for SU, and a 3-pointer from Greenville, the Golden Eagles went on a 22-0 run.
Jacoby Johnson scored the first of his career-high 20 points to kick off the run.
The Panthers put together a run of their own later on in the half. An 11-0 run that ran from 13:14-9:58 pulled the visitors within 11 points. The momentum did not last for Greenville as SU was able to build the lead to 25 at the half.
Spalding held a lead of 20 points or more until the 15:34 mark of the second half. The Panthers then cut the lead to single digits at 10:25 thanks to an 8-0 run. Momentum changed again when the Golden Eagles answered right back with an 8-0 run courtesy of Johnson and
Charlie Storm.
The double-digit lead was never relinquished by SU again after that point. Spalding earned the SLIAC win 92-80 and moved one step closer to possibly hosting a tournament contest.
GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES
- Jacoby Johnson led all scorers with 20 points.
- Maxton Campbell earned his fifth double-double of the season with a game-high 14 rebounds and 17 points.
- Three more Golden Eagles scored in double digits: Anthony Dillard (17), Charlie Storm (15), and Caden Bradford (12).
- Bradford had a career-high nine rebounds while Storm tallied a career-best six assists.
- Spalding scored the bulk of their points in the paint. A total of 66 points were scored in the painted area.
- The Golden Eagles had their most rebounds in a game this season with 57.
- Spalding also hit a season-high in points scored with 92.

The Golden Eagles host Eureka on Saturday at 3 p.m. with SLIAC Tournament seeding on the line. If Spalding locks up the No. 4 seed, they will host their first-round tournament contest.
