LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Spalding women's soccer put pressure on the Eureka Red Devils to take a 5-1 conference win.Â
TURNING POINT
Â
This game started out hot. Within the 2nd minute the first goal of the game was made by none other than
Baeli Young with an assist from
Melaney Frick.
The match then came to what felt like a standstill with both teams applying equal pressure until the 30 minute mark. That is when
Faith Rutherford had back to back goals within 2 minutes of each other, netting the Golden Eagles their first brace of the game. The goal would not have happened without assists from both Young and
Elle Trentman.
During the second half of the action the Red Devils were the first to make contact with the net. But at the 54th minute Spalding was awarded a penalty kick. And with this game being her first game of the season,
Dori Emig placed the ball in the back of the net of the Red Devils. The action did not end there. The Golden Eagles wrapped up the game in the 70th minute when Young was able to finish a brace of her own with an assist from Frick.
GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES
- Both Young and Rutherford scored two goals in the match.
- The Golden Eagles out shot the Red Devils with 22(15) to 2(1).
