LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University softball team extends their record to 3-1 in SLIAC play as they split the doubleheader with the Griffins.
Game 1: Spalding 14 Fontbonne 7
In game one, Fontbonne would take the early 1-0 lead over the Golden Eagles. Spalding would get out of the bases loaded jam to then answer back with two runs of their own for the lead.
Rylee Phillips would get a leadoff single and then steal second on the next pitch.
Jessica Tucker would double through the left side to score Phillips on the hit.
Bella Velez roped a ball into right center for a stand-up double that scores Tucker from second. Spalding would add four more to their lead in the bottom of the third as the offense took advantage of FU errors. The Griffins would rally up in the top of the fourth to push three runs across the plate to get them within four of the lead. SU, with an 11-5 lead, would score three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the win in game one, 14-7, of the doubleheader.

Game 2: Fontbonne 11 Spalding 4
Spalding would take an early 1-0 lead on the Griffins but would soon tie it up in the top of the third. In the bottom of the third, two HBPs and a walk would give

Unfortunately, the Griffins would score seven in top of the fourth on seven hits.
