The Pioneers jumped out to a four-run lead in the bottom of the first inning, but the Eagles answered with four runs in the top of the second to knot the game, 4-4. A Munday homer helped the Pioneers cut the Spalding lead to three runs, but a six-run top of the sixth would put the game out of reach. Spanyer drove in
Ethan Tuttle and Schroeder with a single up the middle, and Bronner hit a two-out grand slam to cap off the inning. In the seventh inning, a Newsom run scored on a passed ball would push the Eagles lead to 10 runs and Wes Clark would retire the Pioneer batters to end the game after seven innings on the 10-after-7 run rule.
