LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University baseball team (3-4) picks up the win against Centre (5-3) this past Tuesday night, 7-5.
Jake Mueller earns his first win of the season as
Peyton Hood locks in the win for the Golden Eagles.
The Golden Eagles would get the bats started early as they scored three runs in the bottom of the first.
Michael Newsom got the offense going with a liner sent into left center who then stole second base on the next pitch.
Michael Speck advances Newsom over to third on a ground out to the right side of the field. Nick Salas would score Newsom on a double to the outfield. Salas and
Dryden Schroeder would score on
Jacob Spanyer's single giving Spalding the three-run lead. The Golden Eagles would take advantage of Centre errors as they tack on two more runs in the bottom of the third giving Spalding the 5-2 advantage. Despite Centre coming within one of the lead, Spalding added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to seal the win for the Golden Eagles, 7-5.
Dryden Schroeder ended the game with three hits in three at-bats as
Jacob Spanyer and Nick Salas each go 2-for-3 with a combined five RBI's.
