LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University men's basketball team picked up their eighth win of the season as they surpassed Westminster, 62-47.
Tylan Mann and
Christian Stewart each finished in double digits. The Golden Eagles extend their record to 8-14 overall and 6-5 in SLIAC play.
The first half seemed well matched against the Blue Jays and Golden Eagles as each team traded shots for the lead. It wasn't until a jumper in the paint from
Brandin Obidike did the Golden Eagles begin to pull away. Spalding would go on an 17-0 run against the Blue Jays as the clock ran down. Going into the half, Spalding would lead by 10 after
Tefrell Toliver gets an easy layup for the Golden Eagles for a 10-point lead. The Golden Eagles would keep the momentum going into the second half as Spalding would go on an 8-2 run in the first 3 minutes. The Golden Eagles would keep Westminster from the lead to secure the win, 62-47.
Christian Stewart would lead the offense with 21 points and 8 rebounds as he shot 9 for 12 from the field.
Tylan Mann followed behind with 14 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double on the day.
