FULTON, MO - Spalding's Women's soccer team competed in the SLIAC quarterfinals against Westminster but fell 0-1.
TURNING POINT
Â
The Golden Eagles postseason started off not how they had hoped. In the quarterfinal match against Westminster (MO), it was apparent that it was going to be tough match by trading possession with the Blue Jays for the first 15 minutes of the game. Halamicek of the Blue Jays found a way to get the ball past
Jordan Schneider and in the back of the net. This didn't slow down the Golden Eagles. Throughout the rest of the half, two more attempts were made to net goals by
Baeli Young and
Elle Trentman from the top of the box.
By the start of the second half there was a lot of action occurring. To start the half off, the Golden Eagles blocked four shot attempts from the Blue jays within the first 15 minutes. Then for the remainder of the half the teams seemed even when it came to who had the possession of the ball. Ultimately the Golden Eagles did fall to the Blue Jays and are not advancing to the semifinals later this week.Â
