LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University men's basketball team held off the Blackburn Beavers on Saturday as the Golden Eagles walked away with the win, 65-61. Spalding improves to 6-14 overall and 4-4 in conference.

Tylan Mann started the SU offense by draining a three beyond the arc to put Spalding up by three. The Golden Eagles would take a nine-point lead with five minutes to go as SU would take advantage of missed shots by the Beavers. Going into the half, Spalding would lead by five as the Beavers would go on a 5-0 run in the final minute. In the second half, Spalding would continue to play tough defense against the Beavers, forcing them to make turnovers.
Jonathan Henson would intercept a pass from the Beavers and drive the ball the other way for an easy layup giving Spalding a 17-point lead, their largest of the night. Coming down to the final minute, the Beavers would intentionally foul SU, sending them to the pitch for extra points. Ultimately, the Golden Eagles were able to hold off the Beavers to secure the win, 65-61.
Christian Stewart would lead Spalding with 19 points and nine rebounds while he shot 70% from the field.
Brandin Obidike finished with 15 points and four rebounds making four of his five threes.
Troy Amanor finished with 10 points and three rebounds.
