LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University men's basketball team proved victorious over the Panthers as the Golden Eagles advance to 1-1 in SLIAC play. The Golden Eagles put up their season high in points as Spalding takes the win, 132-119.

Going into the first half, Greenville played at a fast pace as they would full court press the Golden Eagles to force turnovers. The Panthers would continue to force turnovers as they would take a six-point advantage over the Golden Eagles.  Spalding would finally get the hang of the Panthers' pace and start to connect as Tylan Mann draws the defenders to leave a wide-open Maxton Campbell under the basket. Campbell would give the Golden Eagles the lead, 35-33, with under 10 minutes to play in the first. As Greenville tried to push Spalding with their fast pace, the Golden Eagles would take advantage of Panther mistakes as Spalding forced five turnovers in two minutes. Christian Stewart would put Spalding up by a basket at the end of the first half, 63-61.

Coming out of the half, Spalding would continue to draw defenders, leaving an open man under the basket almost every possession. The Golden Eagles would go up by 11 points on the Panthers as Greenville was unable to guard an open Golden Eagle. The Panthers would take the lead with 12 minutes to go as Greenville would get a three to go to take the lead, 89-87. The score would finally break 100 as Stewart would get fouled for a one in one and sink his free throws. The Golden Eagles would begin to run away with the lead as they take the highest lead of the night with 16 points with three minutes to play. Spalding would walk away with the win with a score of 132-119 to go 1-1 in SLIAC play and 3-11 overall.
