BEREA, Ky. – The Spalding University women's soccer team triumphs in season opener against Berea College, 4-1.
The Golden Eagles took an early advantage in the first half on a goal by
Andrea Hayden. Spalding would then jump out to a 2-0 lead as a ball found the back of the net off the foot of
Baeli Young with the assist from
Juli Nelson. The Golden Eagles would keep the pressure on the Mountaineers as a goal from
Kara Krueger would extend the Golden Eagles' lead, 3-0. Spalding would finish out the first half with their fourth goal by
Keely Ashby with the assist from
Shelby Deering. Although the Mountaineers scored in the 47
th minute, the Spalding defense kept Berea on the ropes to take the 4-1 win on the road to jumpstart their season.

Keely Ashby all finish with a goal apiece. Young, Nelson, and Deering each tally an assist.
The Golden Eagles will take the field against Trine University at home on September 4
th at 12 p.m. Eastern.
