ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Spalding men's soccer team stormed past Fontbonne, 4-2, to earn their first SLIAC win of the season Saturday afternoon in St. Louis, Mo. With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 2-4-1 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.
 
The Golden Eagles attack was led by Chadrack Mulondani. The junior midfielder scored a pair of goals and assisted on another. Trevor Massa (2-4-1) earned the win tallying six saves on the day.
 
Spalding jumped out to a 2-0 lead midway through the first period. Mulondani found the back of the net for his first goal of the game in the 21^st minute off a cross into the box by Luc Cesar. Ten minutes later, Ahmadou Gueye would head a ball in off a feed from Mulondani to make it two nil in the 31^st minute. Fontbonne's Blake Ruffino got the Griffins on the board in the 35^th minute cutting Spalding's lead to one, but Coen Beach answered in the 40^th to push Spalding's lead back to two goals heading into the halftime break. A Tanner Harris goal in the 53^rd minute got the Griffins to within a goal again, but Mulondani shut the door with a goal in the 84^th to secure the win.
