GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Spalding men's track and field team took sixth place at the 2021 SLIAC Outdoor Championships scoring 12 team points.
Coach Wells commented on the team's performance, "I was incredibly proud of our team this weekend. The way the team has responded to adversity all year long in the midst of a pandemic has been absolutely inspiring. Despite losing team members and coaches, they have shown up, worked hard, and kept a positive outlook day-in and day-out." Wells finished, "To finish 6th out of 8 teams with only three athletes able to compete speaks volumes about this groups resiliency and sets the tone for what is to come in the next few years."
Peter McGowan led the way for the Golden Eagles grabbing six points with a podium finish, taking third place in the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:05.74. McGowan earned three additional points in the 1500-meter run placing sixth clocking 4:39.18.
Max Foshee also competed in the 1500m crossing the finish line in 4:48.22 snagging one point with a ninth-place finish.
Will Costello competed in the 400-meter dash placing seventh with a time of 58.53 earing two points for the Golden Eagles. Costello also ran the 200m where he finished 14
th with a time of 25:71.
