ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Spalding University baseball team wrapped up the regular season taking 3-of-4 games winning their weekend series against Fontbonne. The Eagles finish the regular season with 26-13 record and a 24-4 conference mark.
GAME ONE: Spalding 10 – Fontbonne 5
In the opener, Spalding jumped on the Griffins early scoring four runs in the top of the first. SU added to their lead in the fifth on a
Jace Pinkston single that drove
Zane Baker in to make it, 5-0. Fontbonne would cut the deficit to three runs if the fifth, but an
Eric Meyer RBI double jump-started a three-run top of the ninth as SU pulled away to win game one, 10-5. Meyer led Spalding at the plate going 4-for-5 with a double, while driving in three RBIs.
Caleb Collins (6-1) earned the win limiting Fontbonne batters to 3 runs, 2 earned, on 6 hits, while striking out 5 in 6.0 innings pitched.
GAME TWO: Spalding 14 – Fontbonne 4
After two scoreless innings, the Eagles offense exploded for 14 unanswered runs over the next four innings.
Mitchell Langley singled to right driving in Baker to start the scoring and
Dryden Schroeder capped it off bringing Langley across in the seventh to put the SU in front, 14-0 and went on to take it 14-4. Langley and Schroeder led Spalding batters, each finishing with three hits and Langley drove in five runs.
Jack Parisi (7-2) earned the victory on the mound. The senior held Fontbonne to 0 runs, on 2 hits, while striking out 8 batters, in 6.0 innings pitched.

AME THREE: Spalding 7 – Fontbonne 2
The Eagles secured the series win topping Fontbonne, 7-2, in game three. RBI singles by Meyer and
Michael Speck put Spalding on the board in the top of the first and SU extended their lead to three runs on a
JT Johnson RBI double in the third. The Griffins answered with a run in the bottom of the third, but Spalding responded with two runs in the fourth and another in the sixth on their way to a 7-2 victory. Speck led SU batters going 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs.
Peyton Hood (6-2) earned the win, holding Fontbonne to 2 runs, on 7 hits, while striking out two batters in 6.0 innings of action.
GAME FOUR: Fontbonne 6 – Spalding 2
Fontbonne took a two-run lead in the bottom of the first following a Youngblood two-run homer. The Griffins scored two runs in both the sixth and seventh inning taking a six-run lead into the eighth inning. Meyer homered in the eighth and Speck homered in the ninth, but both were solo shots and not enough to close the gap.
JT Johnson led SU batters going 3-for-4.
Zach Vogt (3-2) suffered the loss allowing 4 runs, on 8 hits, while striking out 4 batters in 5.1 innings pitched.

The Eagles head to St. Louis to compete in the 2021 SLIAC Tournament. The #2-seeded Eagles open up against the #7-seeded Blackburn Beavers Thursday, May 13. First pitch is slated for 4:30 p.m. ET at Shaw Park and will be hosted by Fontbonne.
