Golden Eagles place seventh at Railsplitter Classic

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Spalding Women's Bowling competed in the 2021 Railsplitter Classic Friday through Sunday taking seventh place.  

Going into tournament play as the 8th seed, the Golden Eagles faced Belmont Abbey College in the first round of play. Belmont came out victorious, defeating Spalding (4-2).

In the second round, The Golden Eagles defeated UAB (4.5-2.5) and moved on to rematch Belmont Abbey in the final round. 

The Golden Eagles finished the day out with a win against Belmont (4-2), to secure seventh place in the tournament. 

In traditional play, Spalding had a 761.2 average and a total 3,806 pinfall. The Golden Eagles had a total tournament pinfall of 7,444 including baker and traditional play.

The Golden Eagles also placed two bowlers in the top 30 in the individual standings. Haley Kowalski led the way with a 25th place finish with an average of 164.40 and total pinfall of 822. Taitlyn Chapman followed, placing 26th with a pinfall of 807 and 161.40 average.

Up next, the Golden Eagles will be back in action this weekend, February 12-14, at the Hammer Flyer Classic in Lockport, Ill.
