LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University women's basketball team falls to Transylvania in home opener, 47-80. Spalding starts the season 0-1 overall.
As we hit tipoff, Spalding was able to gain control in the starting minutes for their first basket for two by freshman
Bailei Walker. A foul under the basket would give Transy a pair of free throws that would tie the game at two. The Pioneers then went on a 4-0 run as they take advantage of Spalding turnovers. The Golden Eagles would then take the lead from the Pioneers to go up by five. The Pioneers would then regain the lead by seven as we end the first period, 21-14. Transy would dominate the 2
nd period putting up 27 points to the Golden Eagles seven. Spalding could not recover offensively as the Pioneers would run with the lead and defeat the Golden Eagles 47-80.
Freshman
Bailei Walker led the team with 16 points and nine rebounds as
Kamryn McMahon followed behind with seven points, three assists, and three rebounds.
Up next, the Golden Eagles will travel to Cincinnati, Oh. To compete in the Lauren Hill Tipoff Classic with their first game being against Mount St. Joseph on Friday, November 12
th at 5:00 pm ET.
