LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding men's soccer team score three first half goals to hold off late push to Blackburn, 3-2, Saturday afternoon to improve to 7-5-1 overall and 6-2-0 in conference play.
Ethan Eckart put the Golden Eagles in front finding the back of the net in the 24
th minute off a feed from
Ahmadou Gueye. Four minutes later, Gueye scored firing a shot past the keeper in the 28
th minute to extend the lead to 2-0. With just over five minutes to play in the first period, Eckart scored his second goal of the off a pass from
Coen Beach to give Spalding a 3-0 lead heading into the half. The Beavers attack came out firing in the second half scoring goals in the 65
th and 90
th minute but their comeback attempt ran out of time falling, 3-2.
Trevor Massa earned the decision in the net tallying four saves while allowing two goals.
