LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University women's soccer team powers through Principia to get their final win before post season. The women with finish regular season with a record of 9-7-1 overall and 7-5-1 in SLIAC play as well as earn a #4 seed in the SLIAC Tounrament.
The Golden Eagles struck first as
Baeli Young would break through the defense to score the first goal of the match in the 6
th minute of play off the foot of
Dori Emig. Shortly after in the 14
th minute,
Victoria Schmit would score her first goal of the season as she rips a shot past the keeper giving Spalding a 2-0 lead. Young would score her 14
th goal of the season as
Bailey Whitehead would feed her a pass inside the box for the third goal of the match. The Golden Eagle offense would continue to truck through the Panther defense as Schmit would score her second goal of the night on a corner kick and
Bailey Whitehead would also score to extend the lead to five before the half.
Kara Krueger would tack on another goal for Spalding in the 50
th minute of play to put the Golden Eagles up in the second. Young would round out the offense as she receives her second hat trick on the season. The Golden Eagles would take the match 7-2 to round off their regular season.
Up next, the Golden Eagles earn the #4 seed into the tournament and will be on the road with site and date determined on seeding.
