Golden Eagles sweep weekend series at Principia

Game 1
            The Spalding Golden Eagles opened their first conference game against the Principia Panthers. Principia was able to scratch a run on the board first as they scored on three walks and an error in the first inning. The Eagles were stranded from scoring in the first four innings as there were many opportunities with runners in scoring position, however, the Panthers were able to score two more runs in the fourth to lead by three. The Eagles came back with a vengeance and led the fifth off with a triple. From there they were able to score four runs to go up 4-3. Spalding was then able to take over the game, scoring seven in the sixth inning, followed by six more in the seventh inning.  The Golden Eagles came back, winning 17-3.

Notable Stats
Eric Meyer led the team with three hits, three RBI's and, two runs. Mitchell Langley and Zane Baker each added two hits apiece, two RBI's and two runs. Jack Parisi earned his second win pitching five innings, striking out seven and only allowing three runs. Aaron Blake closed the door, pitching two innings and striking out five.

Game 2
            Spalding and Principia both came to play the second game as both teams were able to get runners on base in the first three innings, however both were unable to score. Principia was then able to score two runs in the fourth inning on four walks and a hit. The Panthers followed their lead in the fifth and scored another run going up 3-0. Spalding was finally able to get on the board in the sixth inning scoring two runs on three hits. The Eagles then scored three more runs in the seventh inning as well. Principia tried to answer back with one run in the bottom of the seventh, however it wasn't enough because Spalding then scored a pair of runs in the eighth and ninth to beat Principia in game one of the doubleheader. The final score was 9-4.
 
Notable Stats
            Evan Trentman led the team with three hits, two RBI's and one run, Mitchell Langley added two hits, two RBI's and two runs. Zach Jones started the game pitching 3.2 innings, striking out three and allowing two runs on run hits. Zach Vogt got his first collegiate win pitching 5.1 innings, striking out four and allowing two runs on five hits.

Game 3
            Garrett Wilson got the Eagles going once again homering on the first pitch of the game, this started a forward trend and the Eagles were able to score three in the first inning. Spalding kept the momentum rolling scoring one run in the second, two runs in the third and four runs in the fourth. Principia had no answer for two-time pitcher of the week, Garrett Matthews, and Spalding was able to shutout Principia in their final game. The Eagles scored two more runs in the seventh and swept Principia, winning 12-0, and also securing their eighth straight win.

Notable Stats
            Garrett Wilson, Eric Meyer, Mitchell Langley, and Carson Crump all led Spalding with two hits, Mitchell Langley and Carson Crump led with three RBI's and Eric Meyer led with two runs. Garrett Mathews pitched five innings striking out eight and allowing five hits in the shutout. Adam Weining came in relief, pitching one inning and striking out two.
