Golden Eagles fall in SLIAC championship game, 65-51

WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. – The Spalding women's basketball team saw their season come to an end, falling to Webster in the SLIAC championship game, 65-51. The Golden Eagles finished the season with a 16-11 record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Golden Eagles got off to a good start in the first quarter, with Maleah Hirn starting them off with a good layup at 9:41. Allison Just followed immediately with a good jumper putting them at 4-0. They continued to push their lead, however Webster fought back, bringing it back to a tied game several times. Ultimately, the Golden Eagles went into the second quarter up by one.
 
- The second quarter was in favor of Webster, although Spalding was not giving up, getting back to a tied game multiple times. Webster's Jaysea Morgan landed a jumper with 1:10 left in the quarter to obtain the lead going into halftime.  

- The third quarter started off strong with a jumper by Hunter Wright to tie them back up at 31-31, but the Gorlocks didn't allow the score to get that close for the rest of the game. Despite the Golden Eagles efforts, they couldn't push past Webster to secure a win.

NOTABLE STATS
Maleah Hirn led the team in scoring with 11 points and one steal. Senior Megan Goeing secured nine points and three rebounds. Senior Allison Just and Hunter Wright both put up eight points for the Golden Eagles.

- Jaysea Morgan led Webster with 15 points and six steals.
