Cincinnati, Ohio – The Spalding softball team fell short at Mount St. Joseph losing, 9-1 and 8-1, Thursday afternoon

GAME ONE
MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 9 – SPALDING 1
In the first inning, Ally Klein got on with a leadoff double to left center and Addison Morris followed with a groundout advancing Klein to third. With two outs, Grace Sweat doubled to center field scoring Klein from third. The Lions immediately answered with a homerun in the bottom of the first on their way to scoring nine unanswered runs on their way to a 9-1 win. Freshman pitcher Chloe Skorija (4-1) suffered her first loss of the season giving up six runs, three earned, on seven hits, in 4.0 innings pitched. In the bottom of the fifth,
Bethany Wright came on in relief of Skorija giving up three runs, on four hits.
At the plate, Klein, Sweat and Skorija each recorded a hit, which Sweat driving in the Eagles only run.
GAME TWO
MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 8 – SPALDING 1
The Lions got on the scoreboard first in game two with an Alehia Tucker solo homer. The Golden Eagles tied it in the top of the third when an Ally Klein fielder's choice allowed Jaycee Head to score from third to tie the game, 1-1. Mount St. Joseph responded with seven runs over the next two innings on their way to an 8-1 victory. Olivia Carter (5-2) took the loss allowing eight runs, four earned, on nine hits, in 6.0 innings pitched. Lindsay Hubbard and Sweat led SU at the plate with one hit apiece.
