HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spalding's offense, led by
Mirza Ugarak and
Alioune Cisse, came out firing on all cylinders. The Golden Eagles fired five shots in the first fifteen minutes, landing four on frame. Nearing the end of the 16
th minute of play, Principia committed a foul, giving Spalding a free kick. Ugarak lined up to take the kick and played a short ball back to Cisse who sent a rocket into the back of the net to give the Golden Eagles the 1-0 lead. This goal propelled the teams to halftime with the game becoming back and forth following the goal.
- Unlike the first half of play, the second half started off rather slow for each team. Goalkeeper
Trevor Massa and the rest of the Spalding defense conceded only four shots in the first fifteen minutes of the second half, with Massa saving two and the defense causing two shots to go awry. However, Principia managed to slot one home to even the match at 1-1 in the 64
th minute off of a corner kick. Neither Spalding's offense nor their defense could get things back how they were to start the game, giving up two more goals, the first on a penalty kick in the 84
th, and the second on an upper 90 shot in the 86
th minute, both coming from the foot Kaden Keller. Principia ended the game, defeating the Golden Eagles 3-1.
