Spalding women lose to Greenville, 4-1

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Spalding women's soccer team fought hard but dropped the game against Greenville, 4-1, on Wednesday bringing the Eagles to 6-8 for the season and 3-3 in conference play.

THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Greenville 4 - Spalding 1
LOCATION:  Spalding Athletic Complex | Louisville, Ky.
RECORDS: Spalding 6-8-0 (3-3-0 SLIAC) | Greenville 8-5-2 (5-0-1 SLIAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Greenville opened the game applying a lot of pressure to the Spalding backline. Spalding came out slow, giving up two goals in the first 20 minutes of play. However, Spalding began to pick things up and work together as a team better over the course of the next 20 minutes. Although they gave up another goal in the 41st minute, Spalding went into the half in better form than how they came out to start the game.

- Spalding opened the second half much faster than the first. Unfortunately, the Golden Eagle attack still could not find the back of the net. Thankfully, the Spalding defense came together and held strong for the majority of the second half until the 80th minute when Greenville slotted home their fourth of the game. Late in the 90th minute, Spalding finally put one away, with a goal from Bailey Whitehead off a Kelsie Huffman assist.
