Golden Eagles Fall to Panthers, 4-0, in Elimination Game

GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Spalding baseball team lost to host Greenville, 4-0, in the SLIAC Tournament elimination game late Friday night in Greenville, Ill.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Golden Eagles failed to plate a run in a game for the first time in over a year. The biggest highlight of the game for SU came on defense when Matt Harper fielded a hard hit grounder to third, stepped on the bag, turned a fired the ball to second base completing the double play.

    • STAT LEADERS
  • Garrett Wilson continued his hot streak at the plate going 3-for-4 on the day.

  • Hayden Davenport (4-1) suffered the loss allowing four runs, on six hits, while striking out 10 batters and walking three, in 6.1 innings pitched.

    • FOR THE FOES
  • Austin Marsh and Bryce Pearce led the Panthers with two hits apiece.

  • Jonah Moore (4-4) earned the shutout win limiting the Golden Eagles to four hits, while striking out seven batters and walking one, in a complete game effort.

  • The Golden Eagles await their fate upon the announcement of the NCAA Regional placements. Spalding was ranked 8th in the latest Central Region Rankings.
