LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 20 ranked Golden Eagles split a home doubleheader against Fontbonne Wednesday afternoon. SU dropped the opener, 4-1, but bounced back to take game two, 7-6, in walk-off fashion improving to 23-6 (10-2 SLIAC).

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
The Golden Eagles fell behind 4-1, due to an inability to hit the ball earning just one hit through 6.5 innings, a Matt Harper single in the first. The SU bats came alive in the bottom of the seventh. Garrett Wilson and Harper both singled to shortstop and Clay Kelly singled up the middle to drive in Spalding's lone run. The Golden Eagles had bases loaded and the game winning run at the plate, but three straight outs ended the game.
GAME ONE STAT LEADERS
Matt Harper with 2-for-3 and Clay Kelly finished 1-for-3 with one run batted in.
Harper (1-1) suffered the loss on the mound allowing four runs, two earned, on 11 hits, while striking out two batters in 7.0 innings pitched.
FOR THE FOES
Braeden Dobbs led the Griffins going 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
Luke Summers (6-1) earned the win holding SU to a season-low one run, on five hits, while striking out three batters in 7.0 innings pitched.
GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
Trailing 4-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Clay Kelly got SU on the scoreboard with a two-run home run to left field cutting the deficit to two runs.
Fontbonne scored a run in the top of the seventh to push the margin to three runs, 5-2, but SU answered in the bottom of the inning. With two outs and runners on the corners, Kelly hit a ball up the middle allowing Jacob Reece to score from third to get the Golden Eagles back within a pair of runs.
Following a Griffin run, SU faced a 6-3 deficit in the bottom of the ninth. Jeff Chapuran led off the inning with a single to left field, Quenton Brownlee ripped a triple to the wall in right center to bring Chapuran across to cut the deficit to two, and Kyle Stevens reached on a walk to bring the winning run to the plate. Head Coach Matt Downs inserted Eric Meyer to pinch hit for catcher Zane Baker and the move paid off big. On the second pitch of the at-bat, Meyer lifted a ball over the left wall earning his first career home run and the Golden Eagles the 7-6 victory.
GAME TWO STAT LEADERS
Eric Meyer finished 1-for-1 with a three-run walk-off home run.
Clay Kelly went 2-for-4 including a two-run home run with three RBI.
Quenton Brownlee drove in one run going 1-for-3 with a triple.
Aaron Mitchell (2-1) earned the win allowing one run, on two hits, while striking out three batters in 2.1 inning pitched.
FOR THE FOES
Jackson Penrod led the Griffins going 2-for-5 with two runs batted in.
Desptie only throwing two pitches, reliever Brian Wacha (1-4) suffered the loss, allowing one run, on one hit.
