LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding baseball team used a four-run seventh inning to put away Wisconsin-Platteville, 12-2, earning the decision on the ten after seven run rule. The win pushes the Golden Eagles record to 7-2 on the season.

HIGHLIGHTS
Trailing 2-0 in the third, the Golden Eagles scored a pair of runs to even the score at two-all. Cody Milliner and Evan Trentman reached on back-to-back walks to start the inning, and Garrett Wilson bunted to advance the runners. A wild pitch allowed Milliner to come home and Trentman to advance to third. Dillon Sievert batted-in Trentman with a sacrifice fly to center field.
After a scoreless fourth inning, Spalding took the lead with a three-run fifth. Sievert led off the inning with a single to third, and raced around the bases on a Clay Kelly double down the left field to put Spalding in front, 3-2. Joe Hatcher drove in Kelly for his first of three RBI to push SU's lead to two runs, and came home on a Harper ground out to short.
In the sixth, the speedy duo of Trentman and Wilson reached to start the inning. The two executed a double steal before Trentman came home on a wild pitch, directly followed by Wilson scoring on a passed ball. Spalding scored their third run of the inning when a Quenton Brownlee fielder's choice allowed Sievert to score from third to make the score, 8-2, heading into the seventh.
The Golden Eagles put the game away with a four-run seventh earning the run-rule victory. Milliner singled and advanced to second on throwing error, and Trentman drove him in with a single through the right side. Eric Meyer pinch hit for Sievert delivering a single to center field and Kelly reached on balls to juice the bases. A wild pitch allowed the runners to advance bringing Trentman across the dish for a third time, and Hatcher ripped a double to the center field wall scoring Meyer and Kelly to end the game.
STAT LEADERS
Joe Hatcher went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles and a run scored to lead SU at the plate.
Freshman Evan Trentman went 2-for-3 scoring three runs and driving in one.
Clay Kelly, while only going 1-for-1 with an RBI, reached base all five times at the plate drawing four walks, three on balls and one hit by pitch.
Junior left-hander Hayden Davenport (2-0) earned the win limiting the Pioneers to two runs, on six hits, while striking out nine batters and walking four in 6.0 innings pitched.
FOR THE FOES
Johnny Kelso led Platteville going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Cal Krafchek (0-2) took the loss allowing five runs, four earned, on four hits, while striking out and walking one batter.
