LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University women's basketball team broke the century mark to capping off the season with a 102-74 win over St. Mary of the Woods, Saturday afternoon at Derek Smith Gymnasium. The Golden Eagles finish the season 11-14 overall and 8-8 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early 8-1 lead piloted by four Allison Just points, and led 26-19 at the end of the first quarter. SMWC cut the lead to four, but Just responded with a three-pointer and Spalding pushed their lead to 12 points before the end of the half. In the third quarter, the Golden Eagles stretched the lead to 14 points on an Alyssa Peak layup with 1:25 remaining, but the Pomeroys trimmed it back to nine at the end of the quarter. Alex Martin dropped nine fourth quarter points as the Golden Eagles pulled away to a 102-74 victory.
Jenna Thornhill and Lelanda Matthews each earned a double-double. Thornhill finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Matthews tallied 13 points and 12 rebounds. Alex Martin led all scorers with 17 points, and Just added 16 points and 9 rebounds.
The biggest statistical difference was points in the paint as SU outscored the Pomeroys 74-to-24 inside.
FOR THE FOES
Maggie Reimer paced SMWC with 16 points, while Mara Canada and Delaney Kendall also finished in double figures scoring 12 and 11 points respectively.
