LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Golden Eagles dominated the first and fourth quarters to fly past MacMurray, 74-37, Wednesday evening at Derek Smith Gymnasium. The win brings Spalding's record to 8-12 on the season and 6-6 in conference, while MacMurray drops to 4-17 overall and 2-9 in SLIAC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Alex Martin scored five points and Allison Just connected from long range to push SU out to an early 8-0 lead over the Highlanders. MacMurray would cut the SU lead to five at, 10-5, with a Shelby Fink three-pointer. However, the Golden Eagles tightened up on defense holding Mac scoreless the final 7:14 to take a 21-5 lead heading into the second quarter. Spalding continued to pull away in the second quarter stretching their lead to 20 points following a Kendyl Powell layup with just under a minute to play before halftime. SU used a 15-11 scoring margin to extend the lead to 24 after three quarters, and dominated the fourth quarter outscoring Mac 20-7 to win by 37 points, 74-37.
Megan Goeing led the Golden Eagles with 13 points connecting on 3-of-6 attempts from beyond the arc. Jenna Thornhill fell a rebound short of a double-double tallying 10 points and nine rebounds.
Rebounding was a huge factor in the Golden Eagle win. Spalding held a 56-30 advantage on the boards.
FOR THE FOES
Shelby Fink paced the Highlanders with 10 points and collected four steals on defense.
