Golden Eagles Shutout by Panthers

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University women's soccer team suffered a crucial 2-0 loss at the hands of conference foe, Greenville University yesterday afternoon at Champions Trace Field.  The match was a must-win for the Golden Eagles, as the loss versus the Panthers has now mathematically eliminated them from SLIAC playoff contention.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Golden Eagles struggled to produce offensive opportunities, taking seven shots with only three coming on target.
- Junior, Abby McGimsey tallied two shots on goal for Spalding.
- Sophomore goalkeeper, Ashlee Wilson (3-3-0) made four saves in the contest, allowing two goals.
 
FOR THE FOES
- Greenville took ten shots in the match, six of which coming on target.
- Senior, Dani Pearce scored both goals for the Panthers (13', 17'), while also leading the team with four shots on goal.
- Junior goalkeeper, Marjory Coates (11-5-1) earned the shutout victory for Greenville, corralling three saves.
 
UP NEXT
- The Golden Eagles will next host conference opponent, Iowa Wesleyan for their final match of the season at Champions Trace Saturday afternoon at 1 pm. The match will commemorate Senior Day for the Spalding women's soccer team.
