LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding women's basketball team led after three quarters, but could not withstand a fourth quarter run by Greenville falling, 64-58, Monday evening at H.J. Long Gymnasium in Greenville, Ill. The Golden Eagles dropped to 6-11 on the season and 4-5 in SLIAC competition, while Greenville improved to 13-4 and 8-1 in SLIAC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Eagles and Panthers went back and forth in the first half playing to a 36-36 tie at halftime. Spalding trailed by four points after 10 minutes, but the Golden Eagles got hot from the field shooting 53.8 percent in the second quarter to tie the game at the break. Trailing 44-42 with 2:33 remaining in the third quarter, transfer Alyssa Peak converted an and-one sparking an 11-2 Spalding run to end the quarter giving SU a seven-point lead heading into the fourth. However, Spalding went ice cold from the field shooting 15.4 percent in the fourth quarter allowing Greenville to steal the victory, 64-58.
Jenna Thornhill led the Golden Eagles in scoring and rebounding. The junior forward scored 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting and pulled down six rebounds. Megan Goeing and Allison Just both scored in double figures scoring 11 and 10 points respectively. Lelanda Matthews protected the rim defensively tallying a game-high four blocks.

Wesley Woodard paced Greenville with 19 points, Laura Goodnight score 13 points, while Maria Reinhard added 10 points.
