Golden Eagles Drop Two in Home Opening Tri-Match

GAME ONE
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Spalding University volleyball team lost their home opener to MacMurray College in three sets, 25-19, 25-17, 25-17.
 
THE BASICS

LOCATION: Derek Smith Gymnasium, Louisville, Ky.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Again, the Golden Eagles struggled to attack offensively tallying 22 errors resulting in a .039 hitting percentage.
- Spalding finished with 27 kill led by Kendra Mahan with eight.                             
- Amanda Patterson accounted for more than half of SU's assists passing out 14 of 27 assists for the Golden Eagles.
- Koti Weaver led the SU back row with 16 digs, while Theresa Kwarciany led the front row with two blocks.
 
FOR THE FOES
- Olivia Wall led MacMurray's offense tallying 16 of the Highlanders 32 kills.  
- Janelle Benson passed 26 of MacMurray's 32 assists.
- Reagan Witherall led MacMurray's blockers with three, while Alexis Moore anchored the back row with 25 digs.
 
GAME TWO
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Golden Eagles concluded the day falling to cross-river foe IU-Southeast in three sets, 25-21, 25-18, 25-21.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Kendra Mahan led the Golden Eagles in both kills (9) and aces (3).
-Amanda Patterson led Spalding both assists and digs, tallying 15 assists and 13 digs.
- Freshman middle hitter Claudia Spivey led Spalding at the net defensively with three blocks.
 
FOR THE FOES
-Alexis Basset led the Grenadiers with 11 kills.
-Hannah Sipe distributed 32 assists to lead IUS.
 
UP NEXT
The Golden Eagles will be back on the court next Saturday, September 30 for a home game match up against the Fontbonne Griffins at noon.
