Golden Eagles Fall to Blackburn and Hanover at Tri-Match

BLACKBURN
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spading volleyball team was edged by the Blackburn Beavers in match one, 3-2. The Golden Eagles fell behind 2-0, then rallied taking the second and third sets 25-14, 25-23, before falling 15-12 in the deciding set.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The telling stat in the match was hitting. In the two sets the Golden Eagles won (3,4) they combined for a .304 hitting percentage, while hitting .067 in the first, second and fifth set.
- Ashley Chase and Morgan Berning paced the offense with 14 kills each, while Amanda Patterson passed out 22 assists.
- Maddie Rosendaul led SU defense with 15 digs, as well as added three service aces.
- At the net, Claudia Spivey tallied a match-high six blocks and Theresa Kwarciany added four blocks.
 
FOR THE FOES
- Shelsie Timmermeiner led the Beavers with 12 kills, and Jensen Ballinger passed out 21 assists.
- Kendal Knop led the Beavers in defensively with 32 digs.
 
HANOVER
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Golden Eagles wrapped up Monday's tri-match falling to Hanover in three sets, 25-11, 25-18, 25-14.

HOW IT HAPPENDED
- Again, Morgan Berning led the Golden Eagle offense with eight kills, and Patterson tallied a team-high 14 assists.
- Rosendaul led the Golden Eagles with 12 digs and Spivey totaled five blocks.
 
FOR THE FOES

- Kristin Goben led the Panthers offense with nine digs, and Abby Crump passed out 15 assists.
- Huynh Monique led the Hanover back row with nine digs and Margo Main tallied three blocks.
