CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University women's basketball team lost to NAIA No. 8 Campbellsville, 66-30, Saturday evening. The loss takes the Golden Eagles record to 9-7 overall.
Senior
Maya Hardin lead the Golden Eagles with 15 point, three steals and two blocks.
Alex Martin also contributed five points and four assists.
The first quarter started with each team trading baskets leading to a 9-9 tie with 4:58 left in the first. After that Campbellsville went on a 9-0 run until
Maya Hardin hit a jumper to end the run Campbellsville leading 17-11. Campbellsville scored one more basket ending the quarter leading 19-11.
Turnovers affected Spalding in the Second quarter allowing Campbellsville to start the quarter on a 9-0 run pulling out to 28-11 lead with 6:35 left in the quarter. Three straight baskets by
Lelanda Matthews helped Spalding end their drought going on a 6-2 run. But another 9-0 run to ended the half with Campbellsville leading, 39-17.
The Second half wasn't any easier for the Golden Eagles; baskets were traded back and forth for the first four minutes of the third quarter with the score, but an 8-0 run by Campbellsville gave them a 55-25 lead at the end of the third.
The fourth quarter was slow for the Golden Eagles, only scoring five points the quarter, although they did keep Campbellsville to 11 points in the quarter, their fewest of any quarter during the game.
