LOUISVILLE, Ky.- Spalding University's Women's Basketball team dissected the MacMurray College Highlanders, 72-45,Wednesday evening in Derek Smith Gymnasium. With the win, their record reaches a mark of 10-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play. MacMurray is still looking for their first as they are 0-14 overall and 0-7 in SLIAC play.

Three Golden Eagles reached double figures in scoring led by both
Maya Hardin and
Brandy Hunter with 16 points, with
Julie Skaggs adding 15.
Maya Hardin also added 11 rebounds to complete her double-double bid. Liz Kruemmelbein led the way for the Highlanders with 16 points.

Spalding started strong in the first quarter with a 12-1 run after six and a half minutes played before a three pointer by Kylie Dostin attempted to slow the rush. The quarter would end with a 7-3 spark led by
Maya Hardin accounting for four of the seven points bringing the score to 19-7 in Spalding's favor.

The second quarter was started by two layups from
Julie Skaggs and
Brandy Hunter, pushing the lead to 23-7. MacMurray's three point field goals would try to keep the game close, but an 8-0 run to close out the second quarter would push the lead to 40-23.

A 5-1 run in the first two minutes of the third quarter by MacMurray would trim the lead down to 13.
Brandy Hunter would hit a three halfway through the third quarter to push the lead to 20 and the Golden Eagles would begin to cruise. A 6-0 run to end the quarter would have the scoreboard showing 60-35 heading into the final frame.

The fourth quarter would prove to be the most balanced in terms of scoring. Spalding would get to the free throw line four times, coming away with four points.
Kim Mingus would make the game's final basket bringing the final score to 72-45.

The team returns to action Saturday, January 16 to take on Webster at home. Tip-off will be at 1:00 p.m. EST.
