LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Golden Eagles fell to 0-3 on the season following a 3-1 loss at Transylvania Friday in Lexington, Kentucky.

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1
- The Golden Eagles took an early 6-3 lead, but Transy scored four straight points and 13 of the next 19 to take a 16-12 advantage.
- Spalding responded with a 7-2 run to take a 19-18 lead following an attack error by Erin Romito.
- Transylvania scored six of the next seven points and held on to win the set 25-23.
 
SET 2
- The Pioneers raced out to a 10-5 lead following a bad set by Kaitlin Hall, and stretched their lead to seven points at 14-7.
- The Golden Eagles battled back to cut the deficit to two at 18-16, but Transy held of the comeback attempt to win the set 25-21 following an attack error by Erin Downs.
 
SET 3
- The Golden Eagles came out strong in the third set taking a 16-8 lead, their largest of the set, following a Jessica Diehl kill and service ace.
- Transylvania cut the SU lead to two points following a Downs blocking error, but a Cayla Hoehler kill and Bethany Hardin service ace won the set for the Golden Eagles, 25-21.
 
SET 4
- The fourth set was played close leading at six lead changes and a 12-12 tie midway through the set.
- Transylvania closed the set outscoring the Golden Eagles 13-2 taking the set and match 25-14 on following a Koti Weaver service error.
 
KEY STATS
- Victoria Heitzman led the Golden Eagles with 12 kills on 28 total attacks for a .393 kill percentage.
- Junior defensive specialist Bethany Harding came off the bench to lead Spalding with three service aces.
- Spalding controlled the net combining for 14 total blocks. Jessica Diehl led the team with two block solo' and three block assists, while Erin Downs and Ashley Chase added three block assists each.

Spalding will be back in Lexington tomorrow. The Golden Eagles play Southern Virginia University at 11 a.m. EST and cap off the weekend with a rematch against Transylvania at 3:00 p.m. EST.
