Men's soccer falls to 5th rankend Bishops, 3-1

DANVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University men's soccer team lost their opening game at the 26th Annual Bob Allen Classic to No. 5 ranked Ohio Wesleyan, 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spalding started the game on the attack outshooting the Bishops 3-1 in the first eight minutes. However, the Bishop's shot found the back of the net putting the SU in a 1-0 hole.
- Following an exchange of shots, Ohio Wesleyan took a 2-0 lead following a goal by Brian Schaefer on a feed from Luke Gabbert.
- The Golden Eagles held Ohio Wesleyan scoreless over the next 19 minutes until Ricardo Balmaceda fired a shot past SU goalkeeper Logan Spencer to send SU to the half trailing 3-0.
- Jacob McMurray put Spalding on the board in the 71st minute to cut the deficit to two.
- Spalding had chances to tie it late, but shots by DeLeon and Albright missed high.

- Despite be outshot 17-15 by the Bishops, Spalding has outshot opponent 78-40 through the first three games.
