DANVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University women's track and field team competed at the Centre Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles were originally scheduled to run at Bellarmine, but the meet was cancelled due to Friday's flooding.
Rachel Cowles and
Kayla Payne had solid showings in the 1500 meter run. Cowles finished 8th clocking 5:04 and Payne crossed the finish line 12th with a time of 5:13. Cowles and Payne also competed in the 5000 meter run. Payne ran a time of 19:21.77 placing 10th and Cowles finished nine seconds behind in 11th.
Freshman thrower
Katie Suiters earned a pair of top-10 finishes. Suiters top finish was in the shot put placing 5th with a distance of 11.43 meters. Suiters also placed 8th in javelin throwing 29.48m, and finished 11th (32.96m) in discus.
Krystina Perez jumped 1.58m finishing 4th in the high jump, and took 13th in long jump with a distance of 4.73m.
Up next, the Golden Eagles will head to University of Cumberlands Saturday, April 10.
