WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Sophomore
Kayla Payne highlighted the Spalding women's track and field team breaking the school-record in the 10000 meter run at the University of the Cumberlands Invitational. Payne placed first in the event running a time of 40:49.54.
Katie Suiters and
Maya Hardin had solid showings in throwing events. Suiters placed inside the top-10 in javelin throw finishing sixth with a distance of 29.85 meters. Harding took ninth place in the discus throwing a distance of 35.94m.
Jumper
Krystina Perez finished just outside the top-10 in the high jump clearing 1.47m placing 11th.
Jenna Johnston and
Rachel Cowles had solid outings in the middle distance events. Johnston raced to a 12th place finish in the 800 meter run clocking a time of 2:27.65, while Cowles placed 15th in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:08.64.
Spalding will be back in Saturday, April 25 at the SLIAC Championships at Illinois College.
