NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The Spalding University volleyball team fell to the Westminster Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon, 3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- In the first set the Golden Eagles fell behind early and couldn't dig themselves out of the hole, losing the first set 25-14.
- The second set was a much more competitive set with the Golden Eagles falling just short, 25-21.
- The Golden Eagles felt more comfortable in the third set, passing the ball well and finishing kill attempts winning the third set 25-20, extending the match.
- The fourth set saw each team go back and fourth before the Golden Eagles sent the match into the fifth and final set with 25-23 victory.
- In the final set of the match, Spalding held an 11-9 before Westminster stormed back for a 13-11 lead. They would go on to win the set and the match 15-12.

The Golden Eagles will head on the road and play four matches in four straight days against conference opponents. The first match will be in St. Louis, Missouri on October 5 vs. Fontbonne University.
