LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Spalding volleyball played a pair of matches on Saturday, against Westminster and Transylvania, falling in both, 3-0 and 3-1, respectively.
The first match conference foe Westminster entered having won 12 consecutive conference matches and they extended to 13 with a 25-20, 25-14, 25-23 victory.
Cayla Hoehler led the Golden Eagles in kills with seven, and the 27 overall kills were the least amount since, the Golden Eagles had 19 against Greenville on September 19.
The second match of the day for the Golden Eagles came against the Pioneers. Transy took the match in four sets 25-21, 16-25, 25-23, 25-19. The Golden Eagles were able to bounce back and collect 44 kills in the match and
Erin Downs had a season-high 11 blocks in the match.
Jessica Diehl led the squad with 12 kills and
Victoria Heitzman collected another double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs.
The Golden Eagles will continue their six-match homestand to end the season on Tuesday, October 27, at 7:00 p.m. when Berea College comes to Derek Smith Gymnasium for a single match.
