WABASH, Ind. - The Spalding University women's track and field team was in action at the Robert H. Johnson Little Giant Invitational Saturday afternoon at Wabash College.
Senior
Janika King highlighted the day with a first place finish in the 800 meter run. King finished clocked a 2:25.51 beating Southern Indiana's Rebekah Landy by 0.04 of a second. Casey
Richardson and
Jenna Johnston placed fourth (2:32.88) and fifth (2:36.48) respectively. Â
King raced to a second placed finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.39 seconds. Freshman
Whitney Schuyler earned a seventh place finish (30.01) and Carly finished 14th (36.63). Schuyler also vaulted to a third place finish in the pole vault clearing 3.20 meters.
Freshman thrower Kaite Suiters earned a fourth place finish in the shot put with a throw of 10.98m. Suiters also competed in the weight throw where she placed 13th (9.78 m).
Junior distance runner
Kayla Payne raced to a new personal record in the 3000 meter run. Payne completed the 3k in 11:48.76 best her previous personal best by nearly thirty seconds.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action Friday, February 6 at the DePauw University Classic.
