Box Score 2 HANOVER – The Spalding University volleyball team lost both games on the first day of the Hanover College Invitational, falling to Hanover 3-1 and No. 23 DePauw 3-2 in the nightcap to drop to 0-6 on the season.
SPALDING 1 – HANOVER 3The Golden Eagles lost in four hard fought sets to the host Panthers 23-25, 23-25, 25-22 and 20-25. E.C. Burkman led the Golden Eagle attack with 17 kills, while
Casey Wilkerson recorded 19 digs and
Erin Downs had 4.5 blocks for the defense.
The deciding statistics in the game were service errors and blocking errors. Spalding committed 14 service errors compared to Hanover's seven, and 11 blocking errors to the Panther's three.

SPALDING 2 – DEPAUW 3Spalding fell in five sets to the No. 23 ranked Tigers 25-20, 26-24, 11-25, 17-25 and 7-15. The Golden Eagles went up two sets to none, but errors plagued Spalding once again. SU committed 27 attack errors to DePauw's 20 resulting in a .156 hitting percentage.
Again, Burkman led the attack with 13 kills, while Diehl added 10. Wilkerson led the defense with 27 digs and Cosgrove added 24, and Downs led SU with four blocks.
