GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Spalding University (4-3) women's basketball fell at No. 14 ranked DePauw University (6-1), 67-43 Tuesday night in Greencastle, Indiana.
Freshman
Kayla Styles paced the Golden Eagles with 17 points and 15 rebounds, and
Jessica Guy added 11 points.
Savannah Trees led the host Tigers with 20 points. Â Â
The Golden Eagles kept it close early, only trailing by one at the 14:21 mark and trailed 10-6 with 11:44 to play. However, the Tigers gradually increased their lead to 14 points at 30-16 with 1:54 to play, and the Golden Eagles went into halftime trailing 32-20.
Jessica Guy scored the first points in the second half to cut SU's deficit to 10 points, but DePauw scored the next eight points and the Golden Eagles couldn't recover losing 67-43
Up next, the Lady Eagles will host their conference home opener Saturday, December 20 against Eureka College. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. EST at Derek Smith Gymnasium (DSG).
