The high-powered attack from the Spalding University men's soccer team was shutout for the first time since a 1-0 defeat to Centre on September 30. Westminster was able to score less than four minutes into the game and went on to record a 4-0 victory in this semi-final matchup of the SLIAC tournament.

Westminster was able to take an early lead in the 4
th minute after getting in behind the defense and putting away a goal into an empty net.
Logan Spencer had come off his line but was beaten to the ball that was played over the top of the Spalding defense.

The lead increased to 2-0 in the 21
st minute when Westminster was able to get out on the break again and slot home a through ball. Spalding was able to maintain a solid amount of possession towards the end of the first half but were unable to score and entered halftime behind 2-0.

The Golden Eagles efforts to mount a comeback were stifled in the 65
th minute due to a questionable decision from the center official.
Trevor Bruner received a straight red card after getting tangled up with an opposing player who also received a yellow card on the play.

The game was put out of reach when Westminster added a goal off a deflection in the 79
th minute and another score off of a run out in the 89
th minute for the final result of 4-0.

The Spalding University men's soccer team finished the 2014 campaign with a record of 12-6-1. Next year, the Golden Eagles will look to build off of the program's first ever appearance in the SLIAC tournament since transitioning from NAIA to NCAA Division III.
